2025 AIChE Annual Meeting
Session: 10A: Process Design for a Net Zero Carbon Economy II
This session focuses on process and systems design in the broader context of energy, economics, and the environment to enable a net zero carbon economy. Topics of interest include renewable energy and management of its intermittence, alternative fuels, biofuels, biorefineries, polygeneration, integrated energy systems, synthetic fuels, hydrogen, carbon dioxide removal, as well as carbon capture, utilization, transport, and storage. Submissions may also discuss the integration of energy system design with other technological considerations such as optimization, control, energy storage, and sustainability. Papers that promote innovative solutions that use novel and unconventional sources of energy (e.g., renewable natural gas or geothermal) and feedstocks (e.g., biomass and CO2) as well as better utilization of resources within chemical processing are encouraged. Contributions that employ existing or develop new tools, algorithms, and methods to support or enable process synthesis and design for reducing net carbon emissions are welcome. Other major 10A sessions for abstract submission include (i) 10A: Advances in Process Design, (2) 10A: Process Synthesis & Design for Sustainability, (3) 10A: Design Under Uncertainty (co-sponsored by 10C)
