2025 AIChE Annual Meeting

Session: Solar Thermal Processing

The session will provide a forum for the exposure and exchange of ideas, methods and results in solar energy science and engineering for thermal and hybrid processing. Contributions describing modeling, experiments and techno-economic analyses are welcome. Topics may include but are not limited to: (1) Solar thermal energy fundamentals: physical chemistry, including chemical thermodynamics and kinetics; transport phenomena and reactive flows; optics and optical engineering; energy materials and materials by design; control, dynamics and diagnostics of solar thermal energy systems; modeling, measurements and mapping of the solar resource; (2) Solar thermal energy applications: power generation; chemical fuels and energy vectors; materials processing and recycling; agricultural, industrial and environmental processing; environmental separations, including desalination and carbon capture; thermal energy storage; hybrid technologies, including thermo-electro-chemical processing; new research and demonstration resources, including dedicated hardware and software infrastructure, and financial tools and resources; scale-up and commercialization of solar thermal technologies.
