This session highlights innovative strategies at the intersection of cell engineering and biomaterials that are shaping the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Presentations will span a wide range of systems and technologies, from microbial and medicinal plant cell platforms to mammalian and immune cell engineering. Topics include the development of engineered enzymes and microbial strains for therapeutic compound production, advances in biomaterials that modulate cellular behavior and therapeutic output, and enabling technologies for high-throughput manipulation and cryopreservation of cell lines. Collectively, these talks demonstrate how biomaterials and cell-based platforms are converging to accelerate the production and efficacy of biotherapeutics, vaccines, and cellular therapies.
