(31d) Nano/Microstructured Polymeric Coatings and Interfaces

The ability to fabricate patterned or structured polymeric coatings and interfaces in the micro/nanoscale have wide ranging applications in developing sensors, anti-wetting or switchable wetting materials, biologically relevant substrates, and optoelectronic applications. In addition to the polymeric composition and architecture, the morphology and thickness of the resulting coating formulations are important handles to increase multifunctionality of the resulting materials. In this session, I will talk about my academic research in developing micropatterned conducting polymer surfaces, which were templated via colloidal sphere lithography (CSL), for sensing and binary patterning applications as well as layer-by-layer (LbL) virus nanoparticle assemblies for cancer vaccines. Transitioning into my industrial researcher career, I will then discuss technologies I have worked on at 3M, specifically on materials development for micro/nanoreplication.
