2017 Metabolic Engineering Summit
Metabolic engineering for the production of aromatics
Aromatic chemicals and polymers are important products of petrochemical industry. They have been used to make many products and articles in various forms for use in our daily life. Many aromatic petrochemicals are relatively toxic to cells, and difficult to produce through biological conversion. In this lecture, I will present some example cases on aromatics production through metabolic engineering. Strategies for strain development, fermentation and bioconversion processes will be described. At the end, if time allows, strategies for bio-based chemicals production will be discussed.
