Plant-based Packaging - Understanding the Opportunities and Challenges

As consumers and brands look for more sustainable packaging options, interest in the use of plant-based materials continues to grow. Using packaging materials made from renewable resources, rather than traditional petroleum-based materials, can lead to numerous environmental benefits, from reduced greenhouse gas emissions to improvements in soil health. These often nascent products are not without their challenges though -- lack of awareness, questions about performance, cost, and availability of end-of-life infrastructure to name a few.
