Environmental Sustainability Applied to Energy Systems and Energy Use

Environmental sustainability has become very important issue in the last decades, especially during the last years. Many different concepts, methods and tools have been developed for measuring and monitoring environmental sustainability, and also in combination with other pillars of sustainability. Different concepts and methods will be presented for measuring environmental sustainability and sustainability in general with special focus on new developments. High potential for improved sustainability lays in sustainable use of energy, such as by using renewable energy, within transport sector, when selecting environmentally more sustainable travel options, within industrial plants, and industrial and regional Total Sites. Several examples will be shown in order to illustrate recent developments in different concepts and methods that could be related to more sustainable use of energy within various sectors.
