CFD-DEM is an effective tool to study the hydrodynamics in dense bubbling fluidized bed. However, the expansive cost of calculating the particles motion is not easy for its application in industrial application or dense particles system. Thus several coarse grained models (CGM) were put forward to simplifying the calculation of particles and decreasing the particles motion, such as PSM, SPA, MSPA,CGEE, EMMS-DPM where a group of particles are set as a parcel or coarse particle to reduce the computation. In this study the experiment and simulation test conducted to test five coarse grained methods. The result indicated that the models increasing the gravity force, pressure gradient force and drag force linearly with the coarse grained ratio (CGR) can be effective to ensure similar macro behavior between original system and coarse graining system. The simulation data of the solid fraction distribution and bed expansion ratio reflected good agreement as experiment. But the bubbles structure became less clear as increasing the CGR. Furthermore, the power spectrum density (PSD) and Wavelet analysis of the pressure signal were used and showed that SPA and EMMS-DPM gave better agreement result in term of dominant frequency and energy ratio at mesoscale feature. Finally the computational efficiency for different models was compared and the models of EMMS-DPM, PSM and CGEE have higher computation efficiency than SPA and MSPA relatively if the collision model of spring-damping were adopted.
