(142a) Classical References for the Testing and Identification of Combustible Dust Hazards
Author
Abstract
Classical references for the testing and identification of combustible dust hazards, and the corresponding effective safety concepts are reviewed. The âgo-toâ NFPA standards addressing combustible dust hazards are listed with a brief explanation of their relationship with the âfire triangleâ. The more recent introduction of the âDust Hazard Analysisâ (DHA) in NFPA 652 [1] and the CCPS guidelines book âGuidelines for Combustible Dust Hazard Analysisâ is discussed and contrasted with the European ATEX [2] safety concept âavoidance of ignition sourcesâ. Passing a OSHA Dust NEP [3] inspection is outlined.
