PET Extraction from Waste Plastic Material to be Used As Industrial Coating.
Authors
Polyethylene terephthalate or as shortened to be PET is a component present in the plastic material, with using a tertiary recycling method using other chemicals to extract this component then spread into metals, the purpose is to create a coating material from waste plastic that is environmentally friendly and corrosion resistance a valuable two for two products. As chemical/petrochemical engineers the petroleum industries major facilities is made out of metals or metallic components, these component goes through a huge amount of flowrates, pressure, and temperature that it affects it original construction in the long term, which makes it useless from an economical point of view, therefore most companies are trying to dedicate their work to find alternatives or at least chemicals, components, or materials that is useful to protect the facilities for a longer lifetime, when using a polymer as a nonmetallic material it has a better properties and characteristics making it the best choice used as protective coating, major example is plastic, therefore extracting PET or as known as polyethylene terephthalate to be used a coating is the practical importance of our study. It was found that 2 gm of plastic with 99 ml if solvent for a duration of 50 minutes can extract polyethylene terephthalate, then immediately placed on the surface it forms a coating sticking to the requested surface, making it a successful experiment in extracting the components and using the searched methodologies for the purpose of extracting a metal coating.
