Embracing the Challenges of Sustainability to Help Feed a Growing World

ADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition, unlocks the power of nature to enrich the quality of life. Because the company occupies a unique position in the global food and agriculture value chain extending from the farm gate to the consumerâs plate, it is possible to drive transformative changes to help strengthen the integrity of global supply chains, and to help decarbonize the industry to safeguard the planetâs future.
ADM is expanding its sustainability efforts to meet the needs of the growing global population, and to give customers the edge they need to navigate new consumer demands, shifting attitudes, and environmental challenges. As part of these efforts, the company continues to set ambitious sustainability goals for itself, including:
- The âStrive 35â commitments to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 25%, energy intensity by 15%, water intensity by 10%, and achieve a 90% landfill diversion rate by 2035.
- An aspiration to achieve net-zero status by 2050.
- A commitment to aligning our sustainability goals with the Science-Based Target Initiative for limiting the average rise in global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
- A commitment to ensuring that low-carbon energy represents 25% of our total energy usage by 2035.
Among ADMâs most notable programs are those aimed at expanding regenerative agriculture, enhancing process efficiencies, expanding carbon capture at additional U.S. facilities, expanding the use of biofuels in transportation fleets, and replacing coal-fired boilers. This presentation provides an overview of many of these initiatives.
