IEA TCP Hydrogen Task 43 - Safety and Rcs of Large Scale Hydrogen Energy Applications: Progress
Emerging Large Scale Hydrogen Energy Applications create new challenges for the regulatory framework. To prevent and mitigate potential barriers for the deployment of large scale hydrogen applications, the IEA TCP Hydrogen Task 43 started to work on the following hydrogen safety topics: Social (Comprehensive) Risk; Safety Culture and Management System; Safety Distance Methodologies; Hazardous Areas Methodologies; Hydrogen System Safety and Dissemination. The main goal of the Task on Hydrogen Safety is to develop effective risk management methodologies and recommendations via case studies and data analysis, as well as targeted information products that will facilitate the accelerated market penetration of large-scale hydrogen energy systems.
This presentation gives the overview on the progress of each subtask highlighting the findings and showing the way forward for the harmonization of developed methodologies. The progress and success of Task 43 is crucial for relevant international and national RCS development activities. It is also instrumental in helping global hydrogen industry with market development and establishment of best safety practices.
