(66e) Charge Gas Compressor Operation and Mechanical Consideration

Authors

Andre Bernard, NOVA Chemicals Corporation
The crack gas compressor (CGC) primary function is to raise the pressure of the gas originating from the pyrolysis furnaces after separation of heavy gasoline and fuel oil in the quench section. The required discharge pressure is dictated by the recovery section configuration and refrigeration levels. The CGC pressure profile must also align with furnace and acid gas removal. This presentation will cover operation of the CGC from a process and mechanical perspective.
