(14b) My Path from Process Engineer to Process Safety

With a chemical engineering degree and passion for reaction engineering I set out to do process engineering work of performing process simulations. I developed lot of facility wide digital twin simulators and trained operators in what-if scenarios of failure of equipment and shutdown scenarios. Through these activities I learned a lot about how different equipment works, how different chemical processes work and especially how the plant safety system works. When an opportunity came, I moved to process safety role and started applying this knowledge in understanding result of equipment failures and how to use safety system to mitigate. In addition to the technical knowledge my passion to learn new things and to be help others in solving problems helped my career. In this presentation and though panel discussion I wish to share my experiences in process safety.
