(113a) Considerations for Processing Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Oil in a Steam Cracker

As the global demand for plastic-based products continues to grow, the need for innovative technologies to limit plastic waste becomes more urgent. To address this problem, Lummus has developed an Advanced Waste Plastics Pyrolysis Technology to convert hard to recycle waste plastic into high quality pyrolysis oil that can be processed in a steam cracker unit to produce circular, virgin-grade petrochemical building blocks. This paper will discuss Lummus’ novel plastic pyrolysis process and the various factors to take into consideration when evaluating how to crack pyrolysis oil in a steam cracker.
