(59a) My PSM Toolkit for Success

If I've learned anything from being a PSM Practitioner for over 30 years, it is that it takes significant knowledge, practical experience, and diverse expertise to be an excellent PSM resource. This includes being intimately familiar with the requirements of the suite of PSM elements in one's company. But that's just the start. There's also a need for effective communication with the people who help maintain compliance and drive continual improvement efforts. We must navigate the culture, structure, and politics of our organization to remove barriers and help get things done. Let's not forget the varied systems we must use for documenting results and interpreting trends that tell us if our efforts are making the difference that they should. How can these things be successfully managed to make a positive impact? It isn't always easy, and it sometimes can be downright frustrating. Yet when we achieve desired outcomes, it is extremely rewarding.

This presentation will reveal my evolved approach to PSM compliance based on career lessons and skills I have developed to support the global sites I assist to responsibly manage their hazardous chemicals, interpret, understand and exceed requirements, and keep their people and communities safe. Join this session to hear compelling reasons why it is never boring to be a PSM Practitioner and how you just might become a better one!
