(136c) Overview of Doe/Fecm Clean Hydrogen/Syngas Technology Programs
Author
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) is focusing on development of clean hydrogen production from natural gas and diverse types of solid waste feedstocks (MSW, non-recyclable plastics, industrial waste) with biomass into clean synthesis gas to enable the low-cost production of clean hydrogen with the integration of pre-combustion carbon capture (CCS) to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
This presentation will provide a broad overview and progress that the DOE’s FECM Gasification Systems and Reversible Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (R-SOFC) Programs has initiated on recent work supporting from various waste feedstocks with biomass and cost reduction of each component of the overall gasification systems and from materials development and small-scale demonstration of RSOFC systems along with a detailed discussion of future low-cost technology advances for clean hydrogen and/or syngas production.
