An FCC main fractionator a with an overall poor performance record needed lots of attention to become safe, reliable and more profitable. The fractionator had a poor history of lifting its relief valve and loosing capability over its operating cycle. Troubleshooting/Optimization led to immediate stability improvements and allowed for the development of a project. The project was executed, and a multitude of problems were resolved. Finally, the startup procedure was revamped to avoid potential issues.
