In the era of digitalization and data analytics, the source and quality of measurement data itself is sometimes overlooked. More specifically, little attention is given to understanding, from a control and optimization perspective, what measurement data are relevant and expedient to accomplishing the manufacturers' goals of profit, safety, and reliability.
