Post-combustion carbon capture is a vital technology in the future of energy as we strive for decarbonization. A new packing has been developed specifically to handle the conditions required for post-combustion carbon capture and provides an optimal combination of efficiency and low pressure drop. This packing and a proprietary solvent technology from ION Clean Energy were tested using a variety of point-source CO2 compositions at Koch-Glitsch’s R&D carbon capture facility. The testing shows clear improvements compared to traditional structured packing and solvent technologies to reduce the capital and energy requirements of full-scale carbon capture facilities.

This paper will present some of the results of the pilot plant testing and discuss potential applications.
