(62c) Crossflow ULTRA-Frac® Tray Technology

Ultra-high-capacity co-current flow trays, such as the ULTRA-FRAC® tray, have excellent capacity but are largely point efficiency devices. The benefits of longer flow path length on the efficiency of conventional and high-capacity crossflow trays is well known. Crossflow ULTRA-FRAC® tray technology blends the advantages of a co-current device’s capacity and crossflow tray efficiency to provide a unique solution for towers that need more vapor handling capacity and good efficiency. This paper will discuss recent advancements in the technology, including pilot plant test results and examples of commercial applications.
