(135b) Digitalization: A Key Enabler for Energy Transition and Sustainability
Our DEGREE framework is a set of strategic ambitions for the benefit of our stakeholders on the topics of environment, social and governance. As a key business that enables advanced engineering simulation, we see it playing a critical role in all aspects of engineering. We consider moving away from the two-way balance of Cost vs (Energy) Efficiency to a three-way balance of Cost-Efficiency-Sustainability a shift in the paradigm of how engineering simulation and organization wide digitalization tools can be used and applied in future of the âproduction-conversion-utilizationâ cycle in the energy and chemicals field.
In this talk, we will present first a dive into the meaning of energy transition& sustainability. We will follow that with goals and achievements in sustainability; especially highlighting how technologies in simulation & digitalization enable achievement of those goals with some examples from energy and chemical industries. And we will conclude with some thought provoking questions and challenges for young engineers.
