(57bc) Research and Application of Risk-based Inspection Technology for Atmospheric Pressure Tanks

Author

ABSTRACT: This paper introduces a risk-based inspection technique for atmospheric storage tanks. Based on the on-site risk investigation data of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, different damage mechanisms of atmospheric pressure vertical storage tanks were discovered and the main risk factors of storage tanks were obtained. Taking the risks of tank siding, floor, tops and accessories into account, the risk level is determined with the greatest risk. According to different damage mechanisms, the corresponding effective test strategies were studied, so the appropriate test plan can be determined under the requirement of reducing the risk, reducing the cost. At present, this technique has been widely used in China Offshore Oil Group Co., Ltd, and the results show that the technique can effectively reduce the risk and inspection cost of storage tanks.
