Connecting data, people, and processes is the key to achieving true digital transformation. Process safety intelligence is derived from a vast corpus of structured and unstructured data sources - historical reports, equipment data sheets, materials and thermophysical property data, safety data sheets, best practice guides, handbooks, textbooks, and real-time feedback from instrumented equipment. Navigating this emergent complexity demands dedicated platforms to enable insight discovery across all design stages in a continuous digital thread from inception, to design and manufacturing. Edge computing coupled with machine learning approaches will further enable predictive and prescriptive analytics for process design, safety, and intensification.

The talk will share a perspective on materials, chemicals data management and digitization, state-of-the-art tool and approaches on the market today to manage, and process safety information competencies that engineers entering the profession need to have.
