Refiners face both opportunities and challenges when processing alternative feedstocks. By leveraging existing equipment and infrastructure, capital costs can be minimized and existing assets can be fully utilized, but only if unique processing challenges are addressed. Both stand-alone and co-processing flow sheets will be reviewed along with options for retrofit of existing hydroprocessing units.
