Louisa Nara joined CCPS in 2010 after 30 years of working in the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. She is passionate about process safety in large part due to the 5 decades of incidents that impacted her on a personal basis. These incidents have served as key motivators in shaping her career in process safety and her passion around sharing incidents, lessons learned and best practices on a global basis.
In 1968, at the age of 10, Louisa was impacted by her first process safety incident as a âkey receptorâ, a member of the community evacuated following a fire and toxic gas release at a chemical plant less than 1 aerial mile away. The incidents discussed have affected Louisa, her family, friends, co-workers and the global community committed to process safety.
