Biodiesel has been the drop in solution for the renewable energy production particularly from various waste sources. Many new technologies are emerging with data demands for efficient scale-up and process design. The presentation will highlight the data requirements, gaps in the thermophysical property data, and consolidation of experimental and estimation methods for effective process development. A case study on how new calorimetric studies for heat of mixing measurement and Aspen flowsheet simulator were utilized for development of a 100,000 gallon/year continuous mobile mini biodiesel plant.
