(43a) Human Factors in Real Life Applications - a Scuba Example
Author
Kerin, T. - Presenter, IChemE
The application of human factors in process safety is a key next step in continuing to advance improvement, but there is still much to be understood about what that application means in real terms. In this example I will explore the application of human factors to cave diving, an inherently hazardous sport with potentially catastrophic outcomes. I will then draw parallels between the management of process safety and cave diving, linking the practical application of human factors. While this topic is not directly linked to process safety it will challenge and encourage discussion on the application of human factors in process facilities.
