(26c) Corrosion Under Insulation Revisited - Aren't we about to Finish that Project?

In 2009, Dow Chemical presented “More Lessons ‘Re-Learned’ from Corrosion Under Insulation” at the 11th Process Plant Safety Symposium. A serious near-miss related to Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) was described, as well as lessons learned and policy changes enacted after the event. This paper will provide an update on Dow’s CUI program since that time and detail challenges in maintaining an effective CUI program in today’s business environment of mergers, acquisitions and the continuing drive to be cost-effective.
