(153c) To Cloud or Not to Cloud: That Is the Question

As companies seek value from their process data, selecting the appropriate infrastructure is of critical importance. At a minimum, one should consider security, features, scale and lifecycle cost for the four primary components of IIoT: data acquisition, analysis, historian and visualization. Here we discuss some of the trade-offs between on-premises and cloud components, with the aim of providing useful infrastructure and application decision criteria.
