There may be times throughout the career of a young engineer in which they will be placed in a role in which their colleagues - who have more experience - are reporting to them. This session will touch on the issues that can arise from this situation and what we can do (as young managers) to steer and control the relationship in order to maximize productivity.

Brandon Harding is currently a Chemical Process Engineer at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant (operated by BAE Systems) located in Kingsport, TN. In just 2 short years with BAE Systems, Brandon has been able to successfully implement several projects that save millions of dollars annually and has been awarded multiple Business Leader & Chairman Awards. As a process engineer, there are times when you do not directly manage colleagues - particularly those with more experience - but will require them to work for you in order to drive change. Brandon will discuss some personal experiences in which he had do "manage" those with more experience in order to accomplish a task or complete a project. Specifically, we will discuss how each issue began and what was done to control the situation and direct all project members toward a more productive environment. This will be an interactive portion (with the audience) of the session.
