(35b) Selection and Application of Check Valves in Compression Systems

Abstract:

Careful selection, sizing, and placement of check valves are important considerations to ensure trouble-free operation and protection of critical compression equipment.  Industry guidelines and standards are now leading to the application of double, and perhaps even triple, check valves within a compression loop.  The rationale for these trends will be discussed.  Furthermore, this paper will present an overview of the various styles of check valves and the advantages of each, as well as highlight common design practices.
