In today’s globally competitive petrochemical industry, manufacturers are under pressure to increase production, improve efficiency, and extend equipment life. A case study will be presented demonstrating how convection section cleaning technology improved the fuel efficiency and production throughput of an ethylene cracking furnace. An additional benefit was also recognized as this convection section was considered to be near end-of-life; however, the performance improvements noted justified extending the life of this convection section.
