In this paper we will cover some case studies on how a chemical engineer with a specialization in one area can find himself in a position where he is required to work on the design and construction  in other chemical engineering discipline that he never practiced in the past. Some challenges, lesson learned and tips to translate what may be thought irrelevant experience into a competitive advantage.
