(25a) Mixed Fluid Cascade, Experience and Outlook

Author

Bauer, H. C. - Presenter, Linde Engineering

The first Base Load LNG plant, which has been built using the Mixed Fluid Cascade (MFC®) process, started up in 2007 at a Norwegian location close to the city of Hammerfest. Many first-of-its-kind solutions have been implemented successfully including an all-electric-drive concept, CO2 sequestration, integrated N2 rejection, etc. After fixing several teething problems, the plant is operating now well above its name place capacity with the lowest specific energy consumption of all Base Load LNG plants worldwide. The conversion of the arctic MFC concept to a warm climate is discussed on the basis of a Latin American LNG project.
