(9e) Preparation of Fatty Alcohol Polyoxyethylene Ether Sulfonate
Authors
Abstract: Fatty alcohol
polyoxyethylene ether sulfonate (AESO) was synthesized in aqueous based on
fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sulfate (AES) using sulfite (sodium sulfite
and sodium hydrogen sulfite) by SN2 reaction in a autoclave. The effects of reaction parameters, such as temperature, reaction time, molar ratio of
the reactants, water content, pH and order of reactants mixing on the yield of AESO were studied. The
optimal condition for AESO synthesis was: In a autoclave AES was sulfonated by sulfite
with a molar ratio of 1:4, sulfite was dissolved in water before used, AES
content of 14% (substrate, w/w), 70% water of total substrate mass, pH 7.5, at
190oC lasted 4 hr. The
sulfonation rate of AES reached 67.9%, corresponding to the hydrolysis rate of AES 3.9%.
