Abstract Availability of pure olefin monomers is a key step in the production of polymers. These olefins are mainly produced by steam crackers. KataLeuna offers a wide range of catalysts and adsorbents to purify the various steam cracker cuts. This contribution will report on the latest catalyst developments for the purification of ethylene and propylene, including the various types of front end processing, from C2, C3 minus to raw gas. We will also report on the modelling of these processes based on kinetic analyses. Furthermore, recent commercial experience with the newly developed catalyst KL7742-T5 for C2 and C3 tail end processing in the gas phase will be presented. Finally, progress in the development of catalysts for high capacity applications will be shared. This topic will focus on shape optimisation of catalyst particles, in order to cope with higher pressure drop requirements, and influence of activity and selectivity on enhanced conversion rates.
