Maintaining reliable and efficient operations in the Ethylene Plant Steam Generation Process requires good control of corrosion in the pre-boiler and boiler water systems. The high purity water and high heat flux conditions require chemical treatments to be monitored and controlled in tight ranges. Achieving this level of control can often be difficult with traditional methods. New state of the art systems provide real time monitor & control capabilities to proactively respond to system stresses and maintain tight control.
This paper will discuss conventional boiler water treatment programs and how their application often results in reliability issues. In contrast, the paper will also discuss the use of new state of the art technology and its impact on corrosion monitoring, corrosion control, system reliability, and total cost of operations.
