(143b) A Monitoring Model for a Fan Operated Photovoltaic Hybrid Air Ventilation System

Author

A monitoring model is proposed for a ventilated photovoltaic wall section connected to an outdoor test room facility at Concordia University, Montréal, Québec. The model is presented to assess the temperature distribution in a photovoltaic wall section with operation of fan induced hybrid air ventilation system. The nodal equations are developed for a wall section composed of PV module, air and back panel. The upwind scheme is used to represent the heat transport equation at the air nodes. A one dimensional solution obtained from the heat balance model eliminates the non linear variation of temperature dependent boundary conditions. The automatic formulation of the monitoring equations is presented by formulation of U-matrix with conductive, convective, radiative and thermal capacity conductances. The proposed monitoring model was able to predict fairly well the temperature measurements obtained from the experimental apparatus.
