In-line characterization of microfluidic environment is an important component to achieving fully integrated lab-on a chip devices. We report on the integration of ATR-FTIR into microfluidic channels which is able to give high spectral and temporal resolution of IR active species in-flow. In this talk we will show results for CO2 dissolution into water and discuss the scientific importance of the data.
