Enhanced Oil Recovery involves flow through porous media. As chemical engineers, we design processes for liquid flow and gas flow through pipes and ducts. We readily understand such flows; however, we do not generally encounter flow through porous media when designing a chemical process. This talk discusses the conservation equations and boundary conditions for flow through porous media, as related to Enhanced Oil Recovery and chemical engineering.
