This paper examines the challenges of defining a global mechanical integrity program for a chemical company with manufacturing facilities in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. The paper examines the differing regulatory requirements and engineering standards and also investigates the challenges associated with limited technical resources and limited availability of state of the art non-destructive examination methods in various regions. Further discusses cultural views of mechanical integrity in various global areas.
