(32d) Using ConcepSys to Optimize Small Project Capital Allocation and Teach Front-End Design
Author
Adnan A. Siddiqui - Presenter, ConcepSys Solutions, LLC
ConcepSys is a new tool for integrated front-end design of projects. It integrates process flow diagram development with equipment layout and specifications to deliver front-end design and factored estimates. In this presentation, a sample project case study will be presented on how ConcepSys can improve capital allocation decisions for running plants as well as be used to teach college students and recent graduates on project front-end design. The full front-end work flow up to FEL-2 will be shared starting with developing a simulation, importing it in ConcepSys, generating preliminary design documents (equipment layout, equipment list, line list, equipment specifications) and refining the factored cost estimate. Industry practitioners in the audience will be able to rapidly evaluate and estimate project options for running plants while academia audience will be able to improve the effectiveness of senior design courses.
