Microwave energy has the potential for rapidly heating polar solvents which provides key efficiencies in processing solid objects of low thermal conductivity. Heating objects containing flammables at super-atmospheric pressure or under vacuum requires careful design of the launcher and barrier window system to prevent arcing and pressurized release of flammables into the microwave generator.
