Globalization requires chemical manufacturers to reduce their product development cycle time. One method for reducing product development cycle time is to employ contract manufacturers; ie, tollers. However, producing product at a toll facility is fraught with potential --- for failure. It requires attention to detail and above average communication skills to produce quality product at a toll facility. This paper outlines those areas requiring attention to detail and it emphasizes the need for thorough, clear, concise communication during a tolling project.
