Globalization requires all chemical manufacturers to reduce their product development cycle time. One method for reducing product development cycle time is to use contract manufacturers; ie, tollers, for market development and supply. This paper discusses how to decide whether to use a toller for product development and when to start building and operating an in-house manufacturing facility.
