The pumping of Dense Phase Fly Ash Slurries requires the void spaces between the Fly Ash Particles to be filled with water plus approximately 5 to 8 percent extra water to allow transport of the slurry in the pipeline. A Model has been written to determine the volume of the void spaces in Fly Ash and thus enable the pumpability of slurry consisting of a mixture the Fly Ash and water to be determined. This paper report on a comparison of the data from the Model and the pumpability of Fly Ash Slurries as determined from by a Rotary Viscometer.
