This paper will present an industrial case study to reduce dust emission from a grain handling ship loader. The primary objective of the study was to reduce dust emission to within acceptable environmental levels during the ship loading process without the addition of any dust suppression agent to the grain.

A number of alternative loading chute configurations and delivery spout profiles were examined in a scaled test facility. The experimental results were verified during full-scale onsite testing. This paper will discuss a number of alternative designs which were investigated during the course of the study, and the critical parameters of the final design configuration.
