(218c) Ammonia in the BASF FINA Petorchemicals Limited Partnership Steam Cracking Plant at Port Arthur Texas

This paper gives a summary of a long term ammonia problem in the ethylene plant. The source of nitrogen compounds was traced back to use of LCO in the quench oil in the Primary Fractionator. A description of the investigative process used to find the source of ammonia is included.
