(132e) Modeling and Simulation of Diesel Particulate Filters

On-highway vehicles powered with diesel engines will need to comply with increasingly stringent EPA regulations for particulate matter and NOx emissions in 2007 and 2010. In order to reach the required emission standards, modeling and simulation approaches can provide significant help in designing new systems and in optimizing operating conditions. Diesel particulate filter (DPF) is the technology of choice to control particulate emissions. In this work, we use various simulation methods to model particle deposition and regeneration in DPFs.
